Dream Drop Distance: Mission accomplished!
And so, after 4 months of desperately spoiler dodging, which included de-watching 60+ comms/people over various sites, I have finally managed to complete KH3D without being spoiled. Hurrah! Mission accomplished! I can go back to not constantly watching my back online for potential spoilers! XD

Also, I'm unsure how many KH people I have on my list at this point (and I know most of you are American and therefore don't even get the game until tomorrow), but I'm dying to talk about it with other people, even if it's just an 'I thought this!' or 'I'm getting it soon!' in the comments.

Otherwise I'll have to go to one of the major forums or something equally awful. ;)

Some of us had places that released it the same day as you guys I think XD.

But, yeah, obviously I have finished, about four days ago. One funny thing that Riku ended the game at level 75 and Sora was barely level 51. heh. He was just a tad less, fun to play as for the reason stated in your icon there. I liked how Riku actually thought before he spoke to people and poked fun at them at the right moments. What Riku said to Joshua regarding Sora was epic, "Yeah Sora is a little uhh..." LOL And, you, Riku are in love with that slow sap. heh

I'm glad Riku finally got some good development and dialogue. I mean he was used as a tool in KH1 and we saw very little of him in KH2. Coded and Chain of Memories gave him some screen time, but I really didn't get the feel of Riku's new personality, after all the crap he went though. It was nice to see the fun side of him and the good friend he actually was/is, instead of the douche they portrayed him as in KH1 (still loved him then anyway).

Kind of odd because Aqua asked Sora to take care of Riku, and it ends up always being the other way around.

Oh really? Well I suppose they are region free. XP We didn't get the Mark of Mastery editions over here though. :(

Oh wow, 75/51? No wonder it took people less time to finish the final bosses than me. XD I was on about 29/24. In mine Sora ended up under-trained because I had to run around training to beat the clock on Young!Xehanort whilst Sora was taking a dirt nap. :P Up till that point they were totally equal.

The scene with Shiki is pretty illuminating. XD Riku: 'Shouldn't trust strangers'. Sora: 'LET'S BE FRIENDS! =D' But yeah, Riku's not so blinded by love that he doesn't know that Sora is a dope. XD

Hmm I thought other games (particularly CoM) were very character building, though this is the first one where he wasn't instantly defeated by a cutting remark. :P Finally got over his self-depreciation somewhat, otherwise some of that 'mean talk' in the game would've worked. XD But then, this was Sora's 'let's make Riku feel better about himself' quest. XD

And true, though atleast Sora's trying. XD Even though I guess most of the time it's more 'I found Riku! He's already out of peril though. Well. Ho-hum'.

I played on standard so I spend a lot of time making damn sure I had 7 trophies. I over killed it though. I made the bosses near the end too easy, even with Sora.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant. Riku was beat up on a lot in CoM. And in KH2 he's out of the picture until end-game, although he's mega busy behind the scenes. Being forced to look like Ansem again, I think did a real number on his mental state, poor guy.

I love Sora. I do. But I want him to face the music eventually. Riku has been through utter hell. Sora's had friends, and what darkness he has faced he's never faced it truly alone. He's got a heart of pure light tagging along with him, which I think may account for some of Sora's pureness. I want to know what would happen if Ventus was allowed to wake up and separate form Sora. I want to know if Ventus shields Sora from darkness in anyway, and what would happen if that got taken away and how he would cope. Sora has had to make some hard decisions, but the ones he had to make had an obvious moral "right." Freeing Kairi's heart for instance. Giving Sora a grey area would be most interesting, because I do think he's got a brain in there somewhere. XD

I can imagine it must have been crazy easy at that level. XD Probably very satisfying though. Whereas I was ready to throw the 3DS out of the window. :P And I only ended with 2 trophies *sad face*, though I got another today so that's awfully exciting. :P

Yeah, he's not around so much in KH2 I suppose, but what parts he is in is really interesting, and there's further details on that in Days. But yes, the body swap bit was very 'ow my heart' (for me), poor thing. Also very 'body horror'.

Funnily enough, the main inversion with DDD is that for *once* it's bad stuff happening to Sora, rather than Riku. XD Though aside from the psychological battering that he quickly recovered from, he mainly slept through the worst of it. Incidentally, some of the darkest stuff he experienced was in CoM, which of course he doesn't remember.

With Ven... though I'm sure they *will* separate them, it doesn't entirely follow if you assume that Ven and Roxas somewhat share a heart, as Sora evidentially can't manage without Roxas. I'm sure it'll get handwaved though. As for him protecting Sora... obviously he's somewhat capable of doing that, as he threw up armour around him in the final scenes of DDD, and considering that was 'in this heart', it does back up your theory.

Generally I don't think Sora's as stupid as people make out, just very easy going. XD Perhaps he's just a really good judge of character, because although he's trusted lots of people waaay too easily, those people were actually 'good guys' as it turns out.

ith Ven... though I'm sure they *will* separate them, it doesn't entirely follow if you assume that Ven and Roxas somewhat share a heart, as Sora evidentially can't manage without Roxas.

Yup, that's a mindfuck if I ever saw one.

What's also a bigger mind fuck though is that nobodies have hearts and feelings too and they are clearly not the same as their original. They were just lied too. So does that mean they are a separate part a person's heart? And if Sora can bring back Xion, who is a replica that had some of Sora's memories as well as hearts lost to the darkness, Aqua, Terra, Ventus, what does that mean for nobodies, if anything at all? And Kairi was doing fine without Namine, strangely enough. (which is odd because all the other people with nobodies can't do without getting them back.) Then Ansem the Wise was walking around even though he had a nobody. maybe that was explained in the secret notes you could unlock in Days.

My guess? When nobodies are active, the other part of them sleeps/dreams, and when nobodies are returned to their counterpart, their hearts dream. So, if that were true Axel, Xion, and Roxas' hearts could all be dreaming together, which would be a nice ending for them. They get to be happy that way. As for Kairi, she could just be special do to being one of the seven pure hearts. Any other way, someone is gonna end up unhappy and alone. Sora's heart is like a big fucking playground. lol He's got Roxas, Ventus, and Xion all in there. gawd
kurenai_tenka: KH mass love.kurenai_tenka on August 19th, 2012 08:08 pm (UTC)
Omg I think my head just exploded. Well done. XD

I'm kind of in the camp that doesn't really think of most of the nobodies as being all that separate from their somebodies, with the exception of Roxas and Namine (who as mentioned at some point co-existed with their somebodies, so they're already 'special'). If anything, it would contribute to the 'you have no hearts' lie to imply that they are totally different people, rather than who they were before with new clothes.

Perhaps the necessity for Roxas was due to him being a 'backup copy', of sorts? I mean for a while they co-existed, after which Sora lost his memories and needed them back somehow, and if Roxas had 'backups' of them in some capacity, that would explain the need for him (and Xion). If not, it could always be that Sora went SOS heart-hopping (ala Ven), and that part needed returning, thus they could be separable in the future.

Buuut it runs into more flaws, as even if you assume Sora/Kairi can co-exist with their nobodies due to being keyblade wielders, Axel is of course one too, and he's about as 'fully realised' as Kairi at that point. =/ It would be really interesting to see the full 'what happened' but there, as Lea and Isa popped up in the castle, implying they 'died' there (and Isa theoretically got Xehanorted), so... ho-hum.

THIS GAME IS SIMPLE AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND. ♥

Yup its just about a bunch of so called bromances and hitting creatures with your keyblades and then a sparkly ending. (I wish I could just think about it like that, but my mind won't let me stop thinking what if that and what if this)

again awesome icon is awesome

Nah, speculating is half the fun. I highly doubt I'd enjoy it as much if it *were* simple and easy to understand. :)

Oh and incidentally, I realised I forgot to ask you about something you said yesterday:

Then Ansem the Wise was walking around even though he had a nobody.

...did I fall asleep and miss something? o.o

And thankyou! Though no credit to me on that one. XD The maker made one for every conceivable KH pairing ever.
distorted_rdistorted_r on August 20th, 2012 02:10 pm (UTC)
You are right. I get Xehanort's nobody and heartless situation confused, because I forget that Xemnas just stole the identity. So, yup, Kairi is the only one who could manage without her nobodyand maybe Sora now that his memories are back in place. I think that was the only reason why Roxas had to go back was to put Sora's memories back together, but now that they are, I don't see why seperating him would be that big of deal if he's special like Namine is.

What saddens me is that Lea and Axel do seem like different people in some ways. Lea has some of Axel's personality, but other parts are just Lea. Lea is more concerned with Isa and Axel with Roxas. So that makes it feel LeaxIsa and AxelxRoxas should both be legitimate and separate relationships.

IDK, I just hope the new fact that "hearts can dream" can give Roxas, Axel, Xion and any other nobodies that developed their own personality a happy ending. The game is real big on trios. We got the SoraxRikuxKairi, VentusxTerraxAqua, and the AxelxRoxasxXion are paralleling each other. Somehow I would not be surprised if they introducd a female into the LeaxIsal thing

Ahah, no worries. The Ansem name swapping thing is a bit frustrating. I usually just stick to Ansem for the heartless one and DiZ for the other one.

Roxas and Sora did briefly co-exist (end of KH1 and through CoM), so there's that. Theoretically possible to split them, though I think having both Ven and Roxas running about would be a bad idea, better to just restore the former.

Hmm, personally I think the personality differences (and differences in affection) are just from personal development, though it's debatable. Not to mention, they couldn't really show any Axel/Saix stuff as it would have somewhat spoiled the revelation about where their loyalties are later. That said, he did very quickly start worrying about Isa/Saix in DDD, so I can see what you mean.

It would be nice to have a happy ending for them like that though, bittersweet as it would be. :)
