Tell me about it, I just fought with it for 2 hours only to end up back where I started (and not where I started before the 'upgrade', bah.

Stupid thing has lost all of my history and cookies. Now I have to re-login everywhere, omg. >_>

i know the feeling... i wanted to change back to IE8 once the install of IE9 finished :(
kurenai_tenka: Watarikurenai_tenka on April 30th, 2011 10:54 pm (UTC)
IE.... been a long time since I used that!

And yeah, it's so annoying. :( I've rolled back now, but you can guarantee they're going to harass me mercilessly about it.... but seriously, SO ugly.
J.J. Blue: TxTjjblue1 on April 30th, 2011 10:57 pm (UTC)
I take this means I'll do better not to update my IE8?
Regx_reggg on April 30th, 2011 11:04 pm (UTC)
Well it depends on the person really..

IE9 to me looks like chrome, and I'm not a big fan of chrome. Most of the things I don't like about it are from the interface of chrome (like download windows/warnings at the bottom of the page, moving the refresh/favourites button to the right) but there are good things about it (autocomplete on the address bar in particular). One non-chrome related thing I don't like about it is the fact that you have less addresses available in the address bar drop-down menu :(

So really, it just depends on whether you like chrome or not :D

oh and if you use tabs. They moved the default position of tabs. I don't know if you can change that because I don't use tabs.
J.J. Bluejjblue1 on April 30th, 2011 11:18 pm (UTC)
Hum... I never tried Chrome...
Damn, I use tabs... now I really don't want to switch...
Regx_reggg on May 1st, 2011 08:14 am (UTC)
They've moved it to the right hand side of the address bar, the last time i remember seeing it. I have a feeling you can change the position of it though.
J.J. Blue: TxTjjblue1 on May 1st, 2011 12:00 pm (UTC)
Okay, thank you!
Regx_reggg on May 1st, 2011 12:06 pm (UTC)
No problems! Though after a while you do get used to IE9, and the security seems better? So whether or not you update it really depends ^^:
J.J. Blue: TxTjjblue1 on May 1st, 2011 12:20 pm (UTC)
The problem is I tend to open lot of tabs... I'm not sure with the new system it'll work well...
Regx_reggg on May 1st, 2011 12:22 pm (UTC)
I've had a look at the internet options thing, and it doesnt' seem you can move the tab positions... So I guess it might be better to stay with IE8 for a bit.
J.J. Blue: TxTjjblue1 on May 1st, 2011 12:45 pm (UTC)
THANK YOU so much for warning me!
Yes, I guess I'll stick with IE...
*sighs* if I could I would go back to IE6...
Regx_reggg on May 1st, 2011 12:46 pm (UTC)
No problems! After my incident with Live Essentials 2011, I've learnt to research before actually downloading any new versions of stuff...
IE6 was nice ;____;
J.J. Blue: TxTjjblue1 on May 1st, 2011 12:55 pm (UTC)
Again thank you!

Yes, it was! I should have never switche to IE7... but I needed to see a page and that page complained I couldn't see it with my old browser so I naively though... well, I'll update, there will be nothing wrong with it, right?
No, WRONG, sadly wrong... ;_;
kurenai_tenka: Vintagekurenai_tenka on May 1st, 2011 12:36 am (UTC)
They moved the tab position on IE too? They moved them to above the address bar on Firefox, what a terrible idea.
shazrashashazrasha on May 1st, 2011 07:35 am (UTC)
That is very easily changed though. Just until the tabs on top option.
kurenai_tenka: Sylvia Jikurenai_tenka on May 1st, 2011 11:04 am (UTC)
I figured it would be, but I didn't like the chunky look of everything else, or the weird embedded look of the browser... so I wasn't really willing to try and fix it. Not until it can be skinned to look clean and tidy like 3.6!
shazrashashazrasha on May 1st, 2011 11:06 am (UTC)
Yeah, I was getting used to a new operating system at the same time which is somewhat stranger for me.
kurenai_tenka: Utenakurenai_tenka on May 1st, 2011 11:08 am (UTC)
Oh I see! Well my PC is dying slowly, and the new computers are all on Win7.... so I'll probably end up with a new PC running my old XP OS. ;) Screw these 'V-TEC' styled OS's.
J.J. Blue: TxTjjblue1 on April 30th, 2011 10:58 pm (UTC)
Ugly? What's wrong with it? I'm curious since I use Firefox 3 when IE is being annoying... sigh. I wish I kept IE6...
kurenai_tenka: KH - Aquakurenai_tenka on May 1st, 2011 12:41 am (UTC)
You should use Firefox over IE, it's much better! (Just not v4!)

And it's just... really freaking ugly. It also shuffled the positioning of things around and it's a hindrance rather than an improvement. They even changed how you access the options and...eh. So untidy. Not to mention, even though my add-ons had compatibility updates, they still didn't look nice with FF4. >_>
J.J. Blue: TxTjjblue1 on May 1st, 2011 12:01 pm (UTC)
My problem is I grew up with IE... (I started with IE3) I know Firefox is better but I cling to IE... which sadly isn't improving... -_-
kurenai_tenka: Enzai (Yura's Artbook)kurenai_tenka on May 1st, 2011 12:04 pm (UTC)
I know what you mean, I had IE for a very long time too.... but I made the jump to FF years ago, glad I did because I probably couldn't switch browsers again now!
J.J. Blue: TxTjjblue1 on May 1st, 2011 12:19 pm (UTC)
I tried to leave IE... but somehow I always come back to it... -_-
kurenai_tenka: Pink Flower Budskurenai_tenka on May 1st, 2011 12:28 pm (UTC)
Haha, ah well. :) They've since ripped off FF completely, so it's probably a bit nicer now...
J.J. Blue: TxTjjblue1 on May 1st, 2011 12:46 pm (UTC)
Well FF is my aternate browser... since for some reasong IE refuses to let me download mail attachments 9 times out of 10... no idea why...
kurenai_tenka: 124 KuroFaikurenai_tenka on May 1st, 2011 12:59 pm (UTC)
Weird! o.O
J.J. Blue: DBjjblue1 on May 2nd, 2011 09:16 pm (UTC)
Yes, it is. Anld understand it iever allowed me to download it but... sometmes it allows me and sometimes he does not. It's as if he worked according to its mood!

I've not actually tried Chrome... I just access gmail on my regular browser. How come you use another browser just for gmail?

You have that many lammies in the system that you need CheckFox? ;) Wow!

kurenai_tenka: Pink Heart Lollipopskurenai_tenka on May 1st, 2011 11:58 am (UTC)
I've set up FF to go from mailto->Gmail. :P

And oooh, I see. I didn't realise the map system was quite so arduous, argh! I gave up on looking at it fairly quickly.
shazrashashazrasha on May 1st, 2011 07:39 am (UTC)
I've stuck with FF4 but this has more to do with the fact that it didn't crash every time certain pages updated. I've not liked the look of the browser per say since ff2 so I'm not the fussed about the look change. Also none of my add ons were compatible.
kurenai_tenka: Watarikurenai_tenka on May 1st, 2011 11:13 am (UTC)
Maybe it's just me then. I really like 3.6, but 4 is so bleh. I like minimalism. :P
shazrashashazrasha on May 1st, 2011 11:17 am (UTC)
Well I only have the tabs and address bar visible so it's reasonably minimalist :). The Bookmark bar has always annoyed me as I keep accidentally pressing it and I only rarely need access to the main menu stuff.

The tricky bit for me was working out how the bookmarks were organised and added to. That is causing me a bit of fuss as I can't always locate things I've quick bookmarked.
kurenai_tenka: Sora - Wordskurenai_tenka on May 1st, 2011 11:57 am (UTC)
The quick bookmarks thing? I just have enough to fit on one line, but yeah I'm always accidentally clicking them too lol. Course if I removed it, I'd just accidentally click the RSS button instead...

My bookmarks actually looked fine on 4! Though apparently it has a different sorting system to 3.6, so maybe that's why?
Michellechess on May 1st, 2011 11:44 am (UTC)
You can fix most of it by re-enabling the menu bar, unchecking 'tabs on top', and installing a nice theme or persona.
kurenai_tenka: Watarikurenai_tenka on May 1st, 2011 11:53 am (UTC)
Isn't it all still quite chunky though? I've not used a theme or persona on 3.6, I just like it as it is. =/ I found the backgrounds on the top made the quick-bookmarks toolbar look ugly.

Oooh thankyou! Just a shame I didn't see that app before I went through all that drama to roll it back yesterday. x.X
